Organization:  We are a self-supporting, non-profit organization dedicated to the youth of the entire Las Vegas Metropolitan area.  Founded in 2000,  Desert Storm Swimming, (DSS) is a local year-round competitive swim team from the novice swimmer to the most elite and skilled swimmer ranging in age from 5 -18.  Workouts are held at the Las Vegas Municipal Pool, (50 meter by 25 yard Olympic size indoor pool) centrally located on the corner of Bonanza and Las Vegas Blvd.  Desert Storm Swimming is affiliated with USA Swimming, inc. and  proud members of the Desert Section, a division of Southern California Swimming, competing in local, State and regional swim meets in the surrounding Las Vegas and Southern California area.  All DSS swimmers are USA registered members.

The Program:  Desert Storm Swimming is characterized philosophically by the principles of self-image psychology.  This discipline is concerned with guiding and directing individuals toward maximum development of their talents and abilities.  Similarly, the Desert Storm coaching staff endeavors to teach, train, and motivate young people to achieve their ultimate potential in swimming in the belief that this experience will prove valuable to them as they grow and develop.

The DSS program strives to instill in young swimmers an understanding of and appreciation for such concepts as high self-esteem, personal accountability, self-discipline, goal setting, and goal achievement as these ideas relate to their success in training and in competition.  It is our belief that the process of achieving is as significant as realizing the achievement itself.

At each level of the DSS program, swimmers are instructed to strive for excellence.  Excellence in this sense represents the achievement of that level at which you know that you have done your utmost to become the best you are capable of becoming.  This philosophy is consistent throughout the program, and every Desert Storm Swimmer, is encouraged to “Be the Best You Can Be”.

Goals:  DSS goals is to develop high levels of skilled swimmers and help obtain scholarships for those interested in the pursuit of higher education.  Our graduating seniors from 2004-2007 are currently enrolled in the University of Washington, Colorado State, Notre Dame, University of Idaho, New Mexico State, West Virginia and the University of Nebraska on scholarships.  Desert Storm Swim program will not only prepare them for swimming but also for their adult lives.
